House Rules

While one of the main ideas behind a wiki is the ability for everybody (and I do mean everybody) to make whatever changes they see fit, given the informative nature of this particular one, we need to set down some ground rules to make things more manageable.

Who can make changes?

Only a member of the Singapore Students Association of Carnegie Mellon University is allowed to make any changes to the wiki.

How are changes tracked?

Every time you change something, you must indicate that you have done so, giving your name. See below for additional details. Any change whose originator cannot be determined will be revoked.

What kind of changes can be made?

The only change you can make to an existing page is the addition of new text. For example, if you wanted to add something to this page, you would choose a location to insert what you wish to add, and add it, using the following format (say your name is John):

John adds:
I added something utterly useless to this page!

The wiki code for doing something like this is:

_John adds_:
I added something utterly useless to this page!

If you wish to create a new page, by all means go ahead. Just make sure you specify that you were the one who wrote the stuff, by putting a small authorship note at the end of your text. Try to stick to this format:

written by John

which is:

_written by John_
